Dame Dilla started rapping when he was 11 years old. Dame Dilla would listen to Rap (NWA, 2pac Biggie etc) and would mimic what he heard. He became good at mimicking these artists and began to write his own music. Dilla grew up in Cabrini Green. One of the worst housing projects in Chicago. His music is his story.
